Club History

A Vision for the Inland Northwest

The Inland Northwest Beagle Club (INBC) was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in December 2024, serving Beagle enthusiasts throughout eastern Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana.

The idea for the club grew from a desire to create a dedicated community for Beagle owners, breeders, exhibitors, and enthusiasts throughout the region. What began as a vision quickly became a shared effort, with a committed group of Beagle people coming together to build something that would serve the breed and its community for years to come.

Building the Club

Creating a new AKC specialty club required dedication, research, organization, and plenty of behind-the-scenes work. Members worked together to navigate the application process, research the history of clubs within the proposed territory, develop bylaws, establish leadership, and welcome new members from across the Beagle community.

Each person brought something different to the table. Administrative experience, accounting, graphic and web design, event planning, club leadership, fundraising, and years of experience in the dog show world all came together to form the foundation of the INBC.

The club was never the work of one person—it was a collective effort fueled by people who believed the Inland Northwest deserved a Beagle club of its own.

2025 Inaugural Specialty

With official AKC recognition secured in December 2024, the newly formed club faced its first big challenge: putting together an inaugural Specialty in just five months.

The opportunity to host our first Beagle Specialty alongside the Spokane & Coeur d'Alene Memorial Day Cluster in May 2025 was too exciting to pass up. There was plenty to accomplish in a short amount of time, but club members embraced the challenge with a true "can-do" spirit.

From securing vendors and prizes to coordinating hospitality, creating promotional materials, handling paperwork, organizing the Specialty dinner, and preparing the show grounds, members and friends throughout the Beagle community stepped up wherever they were needed.

More than a Dog Show

Our inaugural Specialty became about much more than what happened inside the ring.

Beautiful awards and prizes celebrated the accomplishments of our exhibitors, but just as important were the conversations ringside, new friendships, stories about beloved Beagles, and the camaraderie shared among people who traveled from near and far to be part of our first event.

At our Specialty dinner, the club took the opportunity to recognize the people whose time, talents, and dedication helped bring both the club and its first Specialty to life. It was a reminder that while ribbons celebrate our dogs, strong clubs are built by the people behind them.

We hope recognition and appreciation will remain an important part of the culture of the INBC for years to come.

A Community Built Together

The success of our first Specialty was a reflection of what we hope the Inland Northwest Beagle Club will always be: welcoming, supportive, collaborative, and passionate about the breed.

Our club is made up of people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, but we share a common love for the Beagle and a desire to see the breed and its community thrive.

Whether someone has been involved in Beagles for decades or is just beginning their journey, there is a place for them here.

Looking Toward the Future

The Inland Northwest Beagle Club continues to grow, building on the foundation established by its founding members and the many people who have supported us along the way.

We are committed to promoting the Beagle, encouraging responsible ownership and breeding, supporting education and mentorship, celebrating good sportsmanship, and creating opportunities for Beagle enthusiasts to come together.

Our first Specialty was only the beginning.

We look forward to building on that history, creating new traditions, welcoming new members, and continuing to celebrate the Beagle community throughout the Inland Northwest for generations to come.
