Conformation
What is Conformation?
Conformation is the sport of evaluating dogs against the official standard for their breed. Judges examine each dog’s structure, movement, temperament, and overall breed type to determine how closely they represent the ideal Beagle—and, ultimately, the qualities that should be preserved in future generations.

AKC Conformation events range from large all-breed shows featuring a variety of breeds to specialty shows focused exclusively on one breed. For Beagles, specialties offer a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our breed and connect with fellow enthusiasts.

To compete in an AKC Conformation show, your dog must be:
-
Six months or older on the day of the show
-
Recognized breed by the AKC
-
Registered with the AKC
-
NOT spayed or neutered
-
No disqualifying faults, as stated by their breed’s parent organization
-
In sound health and up-to-date on vaccinations
